Weekends Away

The club organises several weekends away each year to different areas for walking. A youth hostel is normally booked and members either stay together in dormitories or sometimes rooms for couples are available. Members bring their own food or enjoy the meals provided by the hostel. Alternatively members can book their own accommodation e.g. B&B, Guest House or hotel in the local village.

Each weekend will be in a different location and the weekend normally starts early Friday morning when members will be picked up by the coach between Keighley and Bradford with the possibility of a half day walk depending on the journey time. There will be walks also on Saturday and Sunday and on each of these days up to 3 walks will be available each organised and led by one of the regular leaders. It is optional whether members join a walk or do their own thing if they prefer. The club has travelled to some very interesting locations. In the past few years - Ambleside in the Lake District, Conwy in North Wales, The Cotswolds and the Peak District.

Annual Holiday

The annual holiday takes place in June. Members travel by coach and accommodation will be half or full board in a hotel. The locations are varied and reflect the desire to provide a balance for all the different levels of walking in the group. The club tries to put on walks to suit easier, medium and harder levels, but it is optional whether a member joins a led walk or chooses to do their own thing. The holidays are good value. The price depends on the location and what the club has been able to negotiate. In recent years the cost has ranged between £350 and £500 for half or full board including transport. The coach is available during the week to transport members to and from the walks.

There is a great atmosphere and members often arrange their own social activities during the week.

In recent years the club has been to the Isle of Man, Donegal in Ireland, Calendar in Scotland, Criccieth in North Wales.

Members often get together to organise their own trips in smaller groups. In recent times there have been holidays in the Dolomites, Tenerife and Malta.
